3rd Grade Music:
NOVEMBER:
The 3rd graders have been very thankful this month! We have learned a song called, "We Are Truly Thankful," "Chugga Lugga"-( this one is a turkey passing game where the children sing in solo...though the title doesn't tell you that!), and 2 chants, "The Drumstick" and "Turkey Rhythm Rap." Students have experienced singing a phrase alone, or in a small group, Call and Response, ostinatos (both chanted and on instruments), and decoding rhythms! We really work hard in here, but it sure is fun! :)

OCTOBER:
3rd Grade is building quite a repertoire of songs. One favorite has been the song "On Halloween." This is a round that has challenged our brain. Ask you student to describe in words what a round is. Can they sing the song for you? The students also enjoyed "Ghost of John." This is another great round that we added instruments to! We learned about layering and timbre.
Rhythmically, 3rd graders are reviewing 2nd grade concepts like 16th notes and time signatures. We are also using ostinatos (repeated patterns) to spice up our songs.
